Hello and welcome to the China Bike Ride site. Everything contained within this site is with reference to the involvement of Colin Jones and Adrian Vasey, who live in Newport, Wales. Many other riders from all over Britain and Ireland took part.

In November 1998 we became aware of "The China Bike Ride" organised by the charity Mencap. The aim of the project was to encourage people to join in the 435km ride from the Great Wall of China to Tiananmen Square, to assist their 'Blue Sky Appeal' which seeks to establish family advice centres throughout the country.
We decided, as we were both in our 40th year, and were both determined to do something different, that we would combine that with helping people less fortunate than ourselves
Our training started and the cushions on the settee started getting higher and higher!!! We were determined to reach our target and raised funds by whatever means we could.
(In Wales alone, 12 families every week discover that their son or daughter has a learning disability Throughout the UK 200 families per week are given the same message.)

We kept daily diaries and took hundreds of photos. The full itinerary is on The Tour pages. Come on in and see how we got on!! It was certainly an experience!!
